Job description: Position: Principal for Montessori School of Cambridge-CCMA Accredited School
Location: 9 Roseview Ave, Cambridge, Ont N1R 4A5
Expected hiring date: July 31/2021 to start in Aug for Seot school year

Do you have a desire to learn about operating a Montessori accredited program with children 18 mos- 5 yrs of age?

About the Montessori School of Cambridge
This school has been established in the Cambridge community for 50 years and is a well loved school with many community ties. The school is accredited by the Canadian Council of Montessori Administrators (CCMA) and licensed by the Ministry of Education. All lead teachers are Montessori certified The school boasts of long term teachers and Principals who have been there for over 20 years. Currently, there has been a number of retirements and the board of directors are in process of hiring new teachers and are in need of a strong, dynamic, well organized, passionate leader as principal of the school to continue building on a strong legacy of a high quality Montessori early learning environment.
The Principal will be responsible for monitoring and supporting 13 full time staff and 1 regular part time staff and 3 on call supply staff. The school itself has 69 students for 2021-2022 school year with maximum capacity for 85. Resources about Montessori accreditation and requirements will be available for the new Principal to access.
Responsibilities of the Principal (Centre director)
*Knowledge and compliance with all Montessori CCEYA and Ministry of Education legislative requirements
*Oversight of all aspects of the performance of the school
*Classroom scheduling , including staff/student ratios to meet both Montessori and CCEYA requirements
*Managing enrollment and waitlists
*Recruitment and retention of students, staff and supply staff
*Internal and external communication to cascade information to families and partners within the community
*Ensure that the school has a strong presence within the community
*Planning and providing parent outreach events
*Promotion of professionalism and a positive atmosphere through team initiatives and a high standard of customer service
*Commitment to a physically safe and emotionally supportive environment that shows sensitivity to the individual needs of the children in al aspects of their development, as well as the staff and parents
*Experience with crisis management, including knowledge of Covid -19 response scenarios- up to date with Public health requirements around Covid -19
*Monitoring , coaching, and inspiring of staff in developing a high-quality Montessori curriculum and an exceptional standard of care, Availability to work outside of school hours.
*Reports of a board of Directors on a monthly basis and follows by-laws and policies of the Board
- Familiar with strategic planning and provides operational oversight
*2+ years of experience in management, including direct people management in a licensed child care or Montessori school environment
*Experience as Vice Principal or Principal of a Montessori School ( an asset but not mandatory)
*Post secondary degree( or other advanced certification is an asset)
*Clear, effective oral and written communication with an ability to speak publically
*People Management skills including building, motivating and retaining staff
*Excellent interpersonal leadership and problem solving skills
*Working knowledge of human resources practices and work place legislation
*Organized and resourceful
Police Check-vulnerable sector
Immunization up to date, Diptheria and tetnus every 10 years
TB test – 2 step ,
if already done, one step required
